Regarding: NAPWDA K9’s Killed in Line of Duty
September 26, 2012
Hello NAPWDA Regular Member,
We are extremely proud of all our NAPWDA member K9 teams. We are working to update our K9 Valor roster and page on our web site and make sure that the information is also submitted to the Officer Down Memorial Page web site. The Officer Down Memorial Page (www.odmp.org) has recently created a section to include law enforcement K9 teams. If you or another NAPWDA member you know of have had a K9 partner killed in the line of duty please contact either myself or NAPWDA Trainer Mike Fink. Please provide as much of the following as possible: K9 name, agency, date of death, date of incident, cause of death, breed, age and origin of the dog, as well as, time of law enforcement service, incident details, status of suspect (if death is felonious). If possible, please also include links to news articles about the incident or scans of newspaper articles and department records. We understand that all of the information may not be available in all cases, especially ones that are from far in the past. The more information we have, the easier it is for ODMP to evaluative eligibility.
We want to make sure that our K9’s receive the recognition and honor that they deserve. Regardless of the circumstances, or how long ago the incident took place, if the dog died in the line of duty, whether from felonious actions, accidental causes or heat exhaustion, we want to recognize their sacrifice.
Please contact Mike or myself with the information either via U.S. mail or email. Here is our contact information:
